This one is issued for Fiji ($10) and actually quite a striking design. Certainly better than the rocking horse or the blandness of many of the current crop, almost navigating the same path as Macau’s excellent Lunars.
According to the Chinese Zodiac, the Year of the Horse begins January 31st, 2014 and ends February 18th, 2015.
Advantages of people born in the Year of the Horse are strong character and singleness of purpose. As Horses are considered to be life and soul of the party they are also extremely spontaneous, temperamental and full of enthusiasm.
It is worth to know that each coin of the series has its equivalent for children.
Horse are best associated with people born in the Year of the Tiger, the Year of the Dog and of the Goat.

The Mint of Finland has had the honour to mint a commemorative coin in tribute to artist, author and cartoonist Tove Jansson. In its beautiful box, the commemorative coin makes for an impressive gift that will retain its meaning across the generations.
The commemorative coin minted now is the second in honour of Jansson, since she was first commemorated with a silver coin in 2004. It is a sign of Tove Jansson's significance to the Finnish people that only President Kekkonen has been granted two commemorative coins before her.
The Mint of Finland offers the 2014 Tove Jansson commemorative coin in two versions. The coin with a nominal value of EUR 10 comes packaged in a beautiful gift box, while the EUR 20 coin is offered in a recyclable cardboard package.
The Tove Jansson commemorative coin will be launched on 7 February, when both versions will become available through the Mint of Finland's online shop and retailers.

Royal Canadian Mint presented 10 coin designs an excellent O Canada Series 2014. Shipping started January 2014.
Canada is a country of incredible diversity—its landscapes, its fauna and flora, its people. And while most Canadians live in urban centres, images and icons of this land’s wild nature resonate with each and every one of us. Cherish your favourites with this must-have subscription!
Your first coin: The Igloo
Inuit have carved this refuge against one of the world’s most extreme climates for millennia. Using only that which nature provided and a great deal of imagination, they would build this warm and remarkably strong structure within a couple of hours — an ingenious pragmatism essential to their survival. Today, the igloo stands as a beacon to the resilience of the Canadian spirit.
February 2014: The Grizzly Bear
This great bear has been honoured by Canada’s First Nations people for thousands of years, often revered with the same respect as a grandfather. Powerful yet solitary, the grizzly is a commanding example of the unconquerable and often elusive nature of Canada’s wilderness.
October 2014: The Northern Lights
This coin shimmers with the ghostly green of the aurora borealis, a phenomenon that has inspired countless legends and continues to captivate admirers to this day. And if one is fortunate enough, perhaps the experience will be enriched by the haunting howl of a wolf.

On 30th January 2014 Federal Mint Swissmint has issued a new bimetallic commemorative coin featuring an illustration of 'Gansabhauet', an age-old custom practised in the commune of Sursee in Luzern
On St Martin's Day, 11 November, a large number of festivities and traditions are celebrated in Switzerland. A particularly striking tradition is the 'Gansabhauet' in Sursee, where two dead geese are suspended by the neck, one after the other, from a wire rope on a stage erected in front of the town hall. Young men, and occasionally women too, dressed in red cloaks and with a sun mask over their heads, try to sever the goose's neck with a single blow from their sabre. To ensure that this is not too easy, a pointed cap is pulled down over the candidates' faces so that they cannot see anything, the dragoon sabre is blunt and a glass of red wine as well as a few 360° turns are enough to make the participants a little unsteady.
The Federal Mint Swissmint is celebrating this unique Swiss tradition with a bimetallic coin designed by the artist Thyl Manuel Eisenmann from Lucerne. The new 'Gansabhauet' commemorative coin is available in the minting qualities 'uncirculated' and 'polished proof' in a presentation case at our online-shop or from selected coin dealers and banks. The current effigy 'Gansabhauet' is the third in the series 'Swiss customs' and supplements also the Swiss circulation coins in the 2014 coin set.

Royal Canadian Mint released an excellent addition to your collection focused around history or Canadiana.
This stunningly engraved, finely finished $100 gold coin celebrates the 150th Anniversary of the Charlottetown and Québec Conferences—important steps on Canada’s path to nationhood.
Coin is encapsulated and presented in a Royal Canadian Mint-branded maroon clamshell with a black beauty box.
The architectural elements of each building have been carefully polished to showcase the structures as they would have appeared 150 years ago.
Coin was designed by Luc Normandin and features finely detailed images of the buildings in which the Charlottetown and Québec Conferences took place, inspired by nineteenth-century engravings. The top half of the design features the Charlottetown Colonial Building, now called Province House. In the lower half of the image, we see Québec Parliament Buildings that stood in the place now occupied by the Château Frontenac. Again bringing to life the intricate detail of the original engraving, this image presents the building from atop a cannon-lined battlement, overlooking the harbour at Cape Diamant.
The two images on the reverse are separated by a scroll featuring the text "CHARLOTTETOWN 1864 QUÉBEC."
