Ilmari Tapiovaara's commemorative coin is a beautiful testament to the designer's global legacy. The Tapiovaara commemorative coin belongs in every home – either as part of a collection, or as a decor element.
Designer and interior architect Ilmari Tapiovaara (1914-1999) is one of the most renowned Finnish designers. His most famous designs include the Domus and Mademoiselle chairs. Tapiovaara's work was based on ideas of social responsibility and democracy.
Proof-quality collector coins are minted with a polished die, finished, and placed in a protective clear plastic casing set in a box that tells the coin's story. The new gift box has been made lower than those of collector coins released earlier in 2014. The new box is the same size as the box of the EUR 10 Tapiovaara coin. The collector coins have a part matte, part gloss finish. Designs on a matte background are executed with a gloss finish, while designs on a gloss background are rendered in matte. The collector coin's obverse depicts the Mademoiselle chair. The reverse features a map of the world, with Tapiovaara's destinations of 1937, 1952, 1958, 1964 and 1974 – France, the United States, Paraguay, the Soviet Union and Mauritius – marked with sectors and dates spreading outwards from Finland.

The second coin in the handsome Sea Creatures series, this piece is struck in 1/25th of an ounce of pure gold, and features an unusual face value of 50 cents.
The seahorse is one of the most fascinating creatures in the sea, and the province of Nova Scotia is fortunate to have one species of this extraordinary fish living along its coastline. It's the lined seahorse (Hippocampus erectus), and its unique characteristics go far beyond its horse-like head, including a tail like a monkey; changing colours (and shapes!) like a chameleon; and a brood pouch like a kangaroo on the males so they can hatch and raise as many as 700 fry until they know how to swim!
The seahorse's eyes are reminiscent of a chameleon's and can also swivel about independently. Fish scales have been replaced by a bony armour that covers the seahorse's body in a series of rings, and the small dorsal fin, used for small amounts of propulsion, makes it easy to envision why this fish is not a good swimmer and needs a strong, monkey-like tail to pull itself around in the seaweed or coral.

On 19 August 2014, Latvijas Banka is issuing a new 5 euro collector coin dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Baltic Way - the peaceful demonstration, unique on an international scale, when about 2 million people from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania joined their hands to form a human chain.
The idea of freedom is one for which people have always been willing to pay the highest price. In Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania the yearning for freedom found a powerful expression at the end of the 1980s. The Baltic peoples were united by a common goal: to shake off the shackles of the Soviet totalitarian empire, which had meant subjugation of half a century and which had originated in the Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact. This mutual non-aggression pact signed on 23 August 1939 by the USSR and Germany was supplemented by a secret protocol, which in fact meant the division of six independent European states into spheres of influence and occupation.
The obverse is crossed by a braid with ribbons in the colours of national flags of the three Baltic Republics woven in it. The inscription "5 euro" is on the right. The lower left part of the obverse bears the semi-circled inscription BALTIJAS CEĻŠ 1989, with the year 2014 on the right.
The reverse displays a vertical image of a tree trunk with exposed roots. There are two semi-circled inscriptions – ATMOSTAS BALTIJA (Awakening Baltics) on the left and LIETUVA LATVIJA EESTI (Lithuania Latvia Estonia) on the right.
The edge features two inscriptions LATVIJAS BANKA and LATVIJAS REPUBLIKA, separated by rhombic dots.

The collector coin paying tribute to Åland's white-tailed eagle is most beautiful in proof quality. Proof-quality collector coins are minted with a polished die, finished, and placed in a protective clear plastic casing set in a package that tells the coin's story. The coin will best withstand the test of time and remain as a memento in your collection in its original package.
This provincial coin with a nominal value of five euros depicts the white-tailed eagle in its nest. The collector coin's reverse bears the historic coat of arms of Åland.
This beautiful collector coin is part of the Animals of the Provinces series, which is the third coin series minted in honour of Finland's historic provinces. The first collector coin launched by Mint of Finland in Åland in 2011 paid tribute to fishing, the traditional local means of sustenance and livelihood. For the Provincial buildings series, Åland received a coin commemorating the Sälskär lighthouse in 2013.
The majestic white-tailed eagle
The emblematic bird of the Åland islands, the white-tailed eagle, is an impressive sight in flight, as the bird's wingspan can reach up to two metres. The regal white-tailed eagle is protected in Finland and is one of the symbols of successful conservation.
Finland's white-tailed eagle population declined at the end of the 19th century, and the species eventually reached the brink of extinction in Finland until the population was successfully revived.

The symbol of the Three Wise Monkeys is associated with Japan, but probably came from China. The exact origin of the allegory is to date not clearly documented.
See no evil, hear no evil and speak no evil is a component of a Buddhist teaching and part of a popular belief in the land of the rising sun. Thereby Mizaru covers his eyes, Kikazaru his ears and Iwazaru his mouth.

German New Guinea – Australia at War Series
As a poignant reminder of the struggles faced during the First World War, the Australia at War series commemorates those who contended with the German colony of New Guinea. This conflict marks the earliest example of unity among Australian volunteers – and the first Australian lives to be claimed by the War.
When war was declared in August 1914, Australians sprung to action to fight for the cause. One early order of business was to counter the German colony of New Guinea. Within weeks, volunteers rose to the challenge and successfully formed the Australian Naval and Military Expeditionary Force, which occupied the township of Rabaul on 11 September. The coloured stripes featured on the packaging are representative of the ribbon colours on the medal given out during this time.
Battle of Cocos Islands – Australia at War Series
As Australia commemorates a centenary of Anzac service, the Royal Australian Mint’s Australia at War series remembers the Battle of Cocos Islands. A century later, this battle is still being remembered as Australia’s first naval victory. A bravely-fought conflict that was close to our homes and close to our hearts.Whilst forcing the Emden to be grounded on the North Keeling Island Reef, 134 German crewmen were killed in the battle. However, it was much more noteworthy that the wounded German prisoners sang resounding praises of the Australians who treated them. The white, red and blue coloured stripes featured on the packaging are representative of the ribbon colours on the medal given out during this time.

Since the founding of independent Czechoslovakia in 1918 the country had nine presidents. First of them was Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk. Czech Mint series Czechoslovak Presidents pays tribute to all the highest representatives of the republic. The artistic design of the medals was created by academic sculptor Jiří Dostál.
On the obverse side the author depicted the first president in profile (typical depiction), and placed here the years of his birth and death and the text "The Founding Father of the State". With these words the Czech National Assembly recognized Masaryk’s key role in the establishment of an independent state on the occasion of his 80th birthday. On his abdication in 1935 he was awarded a title of honour “President Liberator“. The reverse side is adorned by the state emblem of the Czechoslovak Republic and text The First President of Czechoslovakia.
Gold ducat T. G. Masaryk introduces the unique series Czechoslovak Presidents with an exceptional personality of our new history. Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk was pedagogue, politician, statesman and philosopher. He also served as a deputy in the Austrian Reichrat (The Austrian Parliament) and became a university professor.
Masaryk advocated antimonarchist views and called for a better state organization in eastern Europe. He strived to put the Czech nation on the map and succeeded in persuading leaders of world powers about the necessity and usefulness of founding an independent Czech state. Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk was pivotal in establishing Czechoslovak Legions and his efforts to form an independent state culminated on the day of his election as the first Czechoslovak president on 14 November 1918. He executed this function until 1935 when he had to resign because of ill health.
Masaryk died in 1937 and with him went away a symbol of moral greatness and immense human authority. His key role in the founding of the state is a permanent part of Czech history and many of his ideas are our national treasure. Hardly any other statesman authored so many often repeated quotations that should be carved in stone. Czech Mint struck in the precious metal an extraordinary personality of national, as well as world history. Gold ducat T. G. Masaryk belongs to every worthy collection. The edition is limited to 500 pieces.
