Precisely split, this sensational gold-plated silver medallion forms the most appropriate tribute to the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall one could imagine.
The Berlin Wall, built by communist East Germany in 1961 to halt a flood of departures to the west, was more than just a foreboding construction of concrete, steel and barbed wire. It was an oppressive reminder of the Cold War – a symbolic barrier to freedom, and a disturbing icon of a divided world. As the USSR stumbled towards its inevitable demise, Soviet satellite states such as East Germany buckled. Symbolising the collapse of communism in Europe, the Berlin Wall was opened in November 1989.
Depicting the fall of the Wall on the reverse, with the obverse illustrating the line of the old East- West German border, the split down the middle of the 10g, 30mm diameter flan is a stroke of genius. Sure to be a major hit, we have a small number of medallions in stock – each set on a display stand.

The Royal Canadian Mint presents a limited edition silver dollar in recognition of the 75th Anniversary of the declaration Second World War.
Right from its onset, the Second World War ushered in a new era for Canadians. When Canada declared war on September 11, 1939, it did so as an independent nation, not as a colony automatically drawn into the conflict by Britain. The romanticized patriotism that had greeted the First World War was gone, replaced by a collective memory of the heavy losses that had been suffered. The Great Depression had left Canada's military undermanned and underequipped, and idle factories and a diminished workforce now faced an urgent demand for airplanes, ships, vehicles, guns and munitions.
This minutely-detailed coin designed by Canadian artist Silvia Decota depicts three women, garbed in the work wear typical of the era around the Second World War; this conflict grew to such dire proportions that the urgent mobilization of the entire country was necessary, therefore requiring women — then relegated to the realm of domesticity — to begin working in war industries. This included the building of ships, aircraft, vehicles and weaponry, as well as in munitions plants and on farms. They could also be found driving trucks and providing logistical support for soldiers, among many other previously male-oriented roles.
Сoin presents a collage symbolically portraying three female workers completing construction of an Avro 683 Lancaster X. In the center of the image, a standing woman in bandana and work wear of the Second World War era lifts a wrench toward the ceiling of the fuselage. Flanking her on her left and right are two similarly attired women. These women are seated on a box in front of the standing woman, riveting each of the fuselage walls.

A spectacular silver celebration of one of Australia’s pivotal historical figures, and exclusive, with a mere 4,000 struck, this brilliantly designed legal tender coin pays homage to explorer Matthew Flinders (1774-1814).
Beyond his feat as the first man to circumnavigate the Great Southern Land, Flinders’ fame is built upon his promotion of the official use of the name ‘Australia’. His advocacy of the title is evidenced by his famous map – the ‘General Chart of Terra Australis or Australia’. Dispatched to Joseph Banks in 1804, this map first received broad attention when Flinders’ book, A Voyage to Terra Australis, was first published, exactly 200 years ago – the day before Flinders’ death. Distinguished by a strong, proud portrait of this legendary explorer, contrasting brilliantly against a full-colour appreciation of his ship, the Investigator, this coin forms a powerful tribute to Flinders’ key role in Australian history.
Hot on the heels of the Royal Australian Mint’s popular legal tender tributes to Flinders, there is no doubt that this eye-catching precious metal Proof will chart the same course to success.

On July 22, 2013, His Royal Highness Prince George Alexander Louis became the newest member of England's royal family. Though George's arrival and name were quickly announced around the world via the Internet, the young prince's entry into the public realm has been otherwise deeply intertwined with the history of the House of Windsor—the current royal house of the United Kingdom and British Commonwealth. In accordance with tradition, Prince George inherits his title and designations from his father, the current Duke of Cambridge, Earl of Strathearn, and Baron Carrickfergus. In addition, the little prince's second and third names, Alexander and Louis, bear important historical connections to royal tradition and beloved ancestors of the present royal family.

The Royal Canadian Mint has unveiled the fourth coin "Honesty" in a series Honoring teachings of the First Nations people of Canada.
An honest person is a giant within their community. People are drawn to their authentic nature, their open and accepting ways. Honest people do not pretend to be something they are not, and the words they speak can be trusted 100 percent.
First Nations communities across Canada share an ancient legend of Kitch-Sabe, a giant who walked among the people to teach this sacred virtue. To be called "honest" is the greatest honour. This lesson is also embodied by the raven as it embraces its own gifts and does not long for the beauty, strength or talents that may have been given to others. But the raven can also be a trickster; and too often, people emulate it in this way. People who are truly honest stand tall in the knowledge of who they are.
Honesty is one of the Seven Sacred Teachings that honour the traditional concepts of respect and sharing that are the cornerstones of Aboriginal life. While variations of these teachings do exist throughout North America, this diversity only enriches them and underscores the universality of their wisdom.
Canadian Métis artist Nathalie Bertin has created a powerful image of the towering yet friendly figure of the giant Kitch-Sabe welcoming a raven onto his arm. In the background, a bough of cedar, known for its protective and grounding qualities, reinforces Sabe’s teaching of honesty. Honesty is one of the Seven Sacred Teachings that honour the traditional concepts of respect and sharing that are the cornerstones of Aboriginal life. While variations of these teachings do exist throughout North America, this diversity only enriches them and underscores the universality of their wisdom. To be called "honest" is the greatest honor.

This year is marked with the 1,200th anniversary of the death of Charles the Great, Frankian king, Duke of Bavaria and the first mediaeval Roman Emperor.
This great historic figure is linked with the origins of Europe, transformed by Christianity into a civilised space of emerging states opening to culture and education. The Europe of his time was different from Europe as we know it today, and yet today's Europe is based on the foundations he laid and turns to his throne in Aachen as to a symbol of European unity.
The silver commemorative Smart coin Charles the Great is issued in a limited edition of a mere 1,000 pieces. It is an extraordinary emission of the Czech Mint, the first of the series Coins of Three Emperors. The artistic design was prepared in the workshop of the top academic sculptor Vladimír Oppl. On the reverse side the author shows a portrait of Charles the Great inspired by his bust displayed in the Aachen cathedral where the throne of this first Roman Emperor is situated. On the obverse side there is a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. It is interesting to note that the British Queen is a descendant of Charles the Great of 41st generation in the line including Charles IV.
Three Emperors Coin Series
In the context of the anniversaries of the coming years 2014 - 2016 personalities of three European monarchs connected by name and Christian tradition come to our attention: Charles the Great, Charles IV and Charles I of Austria. These three sovereigns deriving their name and dignity from the word Carolus, i.e. Charles and King in one, stand at the beginning, in the middle and at the end of the more than a thousand year long history of Europe and despite the many dark stains on the face of the age they are linked with the light of the heritage of the spirit, the faith, the tradition and the blood.
The Czech Mint prepares a limited collector edition of three pairs of coins with portraits of these great figures of European history. The coins will be issued one by one in the period 2014 – 2016.
