The Mint of Poland is pleased to present a unique silver commemorative coin devoted to Agnieszka Radwańska – the best-known contemporary Polish tennis player. This interesting souvenir will be a real treat for all Polish sports fans!

Agnieszka Radwańska is the second Polish tennis player to reach the singles final of the Grand Slam. She was granted a number of accolades by the Women's Tennis Association, including the award for the Newcomer of the Year, Player of the Year and the Shot of the Year.

Our „Tennis Coin” was struck with meticulous attention to detail. A multi-colored photograph of Agnieszka Radwańska was transferred on its surface with the use of high-end digital printing technology. Pobjoy Mint is delighted to announce the release of a new coin on behalf of South Georgia & South Sandwich Islands Government which celebrates the 30th Anniversary of the Granting of the Coat of Arms. The Coat of Arms of South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands was granted in 1985, upon the creation of the territory. Prior to 1985, South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands were a dependency of the Falkland Islands.

The Coat of Arms, which is depicted on the coin, consists of a shield containing a golden lion rampant holding a torch, representing the United Kingdom and discovery. The background of the shield consists of blue and white estoiles, from the arms of James Cook who discovered the islands.

Available in Cupro Nickel and Proof Sterling Silver, each coin is detailed to perfection and struck four times to attain the highest quality ‘proof’ finish.

The supporters are a fur seal and a macaroni penguin, both of which are native to the Islands. The crest of the shield shows a reindeer, from the two herds found on South Georgia Island. 

The seal stands on a mountain, while the penguin stands on ice.  The motto is Leo Terram Propriam Protegat which translates to “[Let the] Lion protect his own land»  The obverse of the coin features an effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley FRBS.

Lynx is best known for its ear tufts

The lynx, best known for its ear tufts and spotted coat, is the emblematic animal of Tavastia. The animal is rarely seen since it is mostly nocturnal and moves without making a sound. Finland's only wild feline prefers rocky forest terrain. Finnish lynx populations have rebounded in recent decades thanks to the protected status of the species.

Description 
On the obverse, the rooster’s bust with its cockscomb and feathers represented in a contemporary style with a rich textural surface. Its posture can be guessed, proud and confident. It carries the French motto « Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité ». In the background, the French flag is depicted in heraldic colors like on the 10, 20 and 50 euro cents coins: horizontal stripes for blue, no stripes for white and vertical stripes for red. The reverse shows the face value surrounded by two branches (oak and laurel) that evoke the Euro symbol. The entire reverse motive is framed in a hexagonal design representing the shape of France.

The Kisatchie National Forest 2015 Quarter, 3–Coin Set features an uncirculated quarter from the U.S. Mint at Philadelphia, an uncirculated quarter from the U.S. Mint at Denver and a proof quarter from the U.S. Mint at San Francisco.

Spread across seven parishes in Louisiana, Kisatchie National Forest is divided into five managed units called Ranger Districts that total more than 604,000 acres of public lands. Under the auspices of Clarence House, The Perth Mint is proud to unveil Australia’s official gold commemorative coin in honour of the birth of Her Royal Highness Princess Charlotte of Cambridge.

Their Royal Highnesses, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, became proud parents of their second child, Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana on 2 May 2015 at St Mary’s Hospital in London, with millions of people sharing in their joy. 

The HRH Princess Charlotte 2015-dated coin is struck by The Perth Mint from 1/4oz of 99.99% pure gold in proof quality.

Issued as Australian legal tender, the coin’s obverse depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2015 year-date and monetary denomination.

The reverse of the coin depicts a sculpted portrait of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge cradling and gazing lovingly at their newborn baby girl, with HRH Prince George by their side. The image is encircled by a sculpted ribbon tied in a bow. The inscription CELEBRATING THE BIRTH OF THE ROYAL BABY, and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark, are also included in the design.

The coin is housed in a prestigious display case within a shipper which features the name and date of birth of the new princess. The accompanying numbered Certificate of Authenticity also highlights these personal details. 

The Perth Mint will release no more than 1,000 of the HRH Princess Charlotte 2015 1/4oz Gold Proof Coin.

Obverse
The obverse features firefighters' symbols on the background of flames, with the images of firemen on the right and left. Crossed oak branches form a motif at the bottom. The semi-circled inscription UGUNSDZĒSĪBAI LATVIJĀ (Firefighting in Latvia) is placed at the top, with the figure150 beneath it. The year 2015 is inscribed in the lower part of the obverse.

Reverse
The image of fully-equipped firefighters' team in a horse-drawn cart is the central motif. The lower part features the semi-circled inscription 5 EURO.

Edge
The edge bears the inscriptions LATVIJAS BANKA and LATVIJAS REPUBLIKA, separated by rhombic dots.

As soon as Prometheus had stolen fire from the gods on Mount Olympus and given it to the mortals, people learnt how to control fire and started to use it in their everyday life. Alas, fire simultaneously multiplied the problems of humankind. The human history abounds in disasters, smaller and bigger, brought or caused by fire. Over time, fires, calamities and lesser everyday accidents have been gaining in diversity and complexity. The control of fire soon highlighted the need for more specific firefighting methods, advanced organisational principles and procedures as well as better equipment and technologies. Firefighting entered a new phase, and volunteer firefighting brigades gradually changed into professional or career divisions.

In Latvia, the very first firefighters' brigade was formed in 1845 in Daugavpils, then Dinaburg of Vitebsk gubernia. The first firefighting unit in Riga emerged in 1864; the first fire it extinguished on 17 May 1865 burnt someplace in the old town. Riga was immediately followed by Mītava (currently Jelgava), with volunteer fire brigades popping up one after another and putting out bursting flames elsewhere in Latvia. Prior to World War II, there were well over 200 firefighting brigades all in all.

A unit of firefighters, called "The Running Column" and paid by the City Council, was established in Riga in 1882. It was joined by four firefighters divisions in 1907, forming a city team headed by a brand major of the Riga City Firefighting Department. Four fire stations were built there between 1886 and 1902; another one built in 1910 at the corner of Hanza and Strēlnieku Streets (currently the Latvian Firefighting Museum) was crowned by an observation and fire hose drying tower. Thanks to the mastery of architect Reinhold Georg Schmaeling (1840–1917), these buildings today preserve their historical significance and cultural value.

The evolving of Latvia's firefighting transport and equipment from hand to steam pumps and from horse-drawn carts to powerful motor vehicles has been exciting. Riga purchased a steam pump known as Fire King produced by Merryweather & sons in 1910 and it was in operation until 1925. A firefighters' automobile D24/40 produced by the Russian-Baltic Carriage Factory in Riga in 1912 is now displayed at the Riga Motor Museum. Automobiles produced by Ford-Vairogs in Riga became popular at the end of the 1930s.

In 1929, Latvia joined the International Technical Committeefor thePreventionand Extinction of Fire.

At present, Latvia has a service for firefighting and rescue meeting international standards, with its routine functions expanding also in the area of fire safety and civil protection. The State Fire and Rescue Service of Latvia is an active participant in the programmes of the NATO Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Centre, the Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection Department of the European Commission and theUN Officefor the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
