On 5 December 2013, Narodowy Bank Polski is putting into circulation coins from the “History of Polish Popular Music” series, commemorating Agnieszka Osiecka, with the face values of: PLN 10, PLN 10 and PLN 2.
Agnieszka was a restless soul, always open to new people, new places, new experiences. Having completed a degree in journalism, she went on to study at the Łódź Film School. Established as a stellar lyricist, she turned to writing for the stage – and while Let the Apple Trees Bloom kept running, she wrote Appetite for Cherries. With theatre success under her belt, she took up writing scripts for television. After television came the short stories, monodramas and novels. She kept moving on, pressing forward – with new songs, new composers, new performers, theatres, festivals, people and places. All these things made up Agnieszka’s world. Songs with lyrics by Agnieszka Osiecka have been performed by famous Polish singers: Maryla Rodowicz, Seweryn Krajewski, Magda Umer, the Skaldowie group, Łucja Prus, Katarzyna Nosowska, Stanisław Soyka, Iga Cembrzyńska, Edmund Fetting, Piotr Fronczewski, Elżbieta Czyżewska…

In 2014 we mark the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War with the first coin in a five-year series that will take us on a journey from outbreak to armistice. This official UK £2 coin remembers one of the most significant moments in British history with a design that recalls the spirit, and with hindsight, the poignancy, of the rush to enlist encouraged by Lord Kitchener. This £2 coin, a fitting tribute, is available now housed in an informative folder that brings to its iconic design to life.
About the coin
In 1914 Lord Kitchener was appointed to mastermind a recruitment campaign that would go on to create one of the largest volunteer armies ever known in Britain. Though many posters encouraged the men of Britain to enlist, the image of Kitchener himself has come to stand for the call to fight for King and country that saw men respond in their thousands. It is to this instantly recognisable image that the experienced artist John Bergdahl turned to create his stirring design: ‘Your country needs you!’.
Perhaps you wish to honour someone in your family who played their part, or pay your respects as the nation remembers. Maybe you have an interest in military history or want to learn more about such a significant time. You will want to secure one of these Brilliant Uncirculated £2 coins – produced by The Royal Mint, as were the medals presented to those who fought so long ago. Your coin is presented in a fascinating folder exploring the country at the outbreak of war, Kitchener’s campaign and the men who volunteered to fight with Britain from across the Commonwealth.

Fashion is a general term for a popular style or practice, especially in clothing, footwear, accessories, makeup, body piercing, or furniture. Fashion refers to a distinctive and often habitual trend in the style with which a person dresses, as well as to prevailing styles in behaviour. Fashion also refers to the newest creations of textile designers. The more technical term, costume, has become so linked to the term "fashion" that the use of the former has been relegated to special senses like fancy dress or masquerade wear, while "fashion" means clothing more generally and the study of it.
Niue in 2013 has issued a coin 'Wedding Fashion' in the 'Fashion World' series.
This coin is a perfect gift for any occasion! A dress specially designed only for this coin issue. The obverse takes you around the world in the major fashion cities. Partly coloured coin.

The National Bank of Slovakia have issued (18th November) a new gold coin for 2013 which continues the beautiful «Coronations in Bratislava» series launched last year. The new coin highlights the reign and subsequent coronation of Maximilian II, Holy Roman Emperor (1527–1576) who succeeded to the throne of Bohemia (in present-day Czech Republic) in 1563.
The coronation of Maximilian was actually the first coronation ceremony in Pressburg (present-day Bratislava), which was the capital and coronation town of Hungary from 1536. Maximilian's coronation took place on the 8th September 1563 in the Parish Church dedicated to St. Martin (today's St. Martin's Cathedral). The coronation was an exceptional event and its activities were followed by the whole of Europe. The ceremony itself was attended by Maximilian's own father — the Emperor and King Ferdinand, the senior clergy as well as the nobility including leading representatives of almost all European countries. In later years, the next ten Hungarian sovereigns were crowned in Pressburg.
Maximilian II, a highly educated ruler and generous benefactor of the arts and science, was also considered a popular Monarch by the standards of the day. Although for the most part of his ruling period he resided outside the territory of Hungary, he dedicated much of his efforts to her defense against a Turkish onslaught. The result of his military successes was the conclusion of peace with Sultan Selim II in 1568.
The coin, struck by the Kremnica Mint in the city of the same name, is designed by artist Karol Ličko. The obverse depicts the famed Hungarian royal crown of St. Stephan set between lines of decorative beads. The lower half of the design features a period depiction of Bratislava Castle, and to the right is the coat of arms of the Slovak Republic. Along the upper edge is the text «SLOVENSKO» followed by the denomination and currency «100 EURO». The year «2013» appears below the crown. The mint-mark of the Kremnica Mint and the stylized initials of the coin's designer are located on the left-hand side, next to the crown.
The reverse includes a detailed and front-facing portrait of Maximilian, along with a period depiction of St Martin's Cathedral, where the king was crowned just over his left shoulder with the coronation orb just under the castle, all framed by a circle of decorative beads. The coronation year «1563» appears next to the portrait. Along the edge are the inscriptions «KORUNOVÁCIA MAXIMILIÁNA» and «BRATISLAVA».
The next coin in the on-going series will be issued as another significant coronation anniversary is observed.
