This 99.99% pure gold coin with a $25 denomination is part of the Royal Canadian Mint's series "Untamed Canada"; the series is inspired by traditional woodblock art, resulting in bold, graphic interpretations of feral Canadian creatures. Final coin in the series!
The wolverine enjoys a fearsome "tough guy" reputation. Much of the wolverine's notoriety can be attributed to its secretive ways, low population density and remote northerly range in central and western Canada. It's one of the nation's least understood animals, but as researchers continue to study the wolverine, they are discovering it is one of nature's great powerhouses.
The wolverine's strength is far beyond its stature. Its powerful jaws can bite through moose tibia, and its teeth have evolved to eat frozen meat and bones. It has long, semi-retractable claws that it uses primarily for digging and climbing. And while the wolverine is known to ferociously defend its food from larger predators, it is primarily a scavenger rather than a hunter of live prey.
Special features:
• A variety of finishes in your coin creates this distinctive wood block portrait of the wolverine in its habitat.
• Third and last issue in our beautiful Untamed Canada series, your coin showcases five different coin finishes, each with a separate degree of luster, exceptional engraving techniques and woodblock-inspired art.
• Your coin is a dramatic approach to coin design inspired by the untamed nature of the wolverine
• A beautiful gift and distinguished addition to your coin display.
• Your coin is GST/HST exempt with a limited worldwide mintage.
Coin was designed by Canadian artist Tivadar Bote and features the woodblock-style portrait of a wolverine set against a sunburst motif bearing symbolic elements of the wolverine's Canadian habitat. Coin includes a gold-plated image of the Statue of Cleopatra VII, a unique piece that was purchased in the early 1900s by the museum’s first director. This ancient granite bust is believed to be a rare, idealized representation of the Egyptian queen whose romantic conquests earned her immortality. Behind the bust, the crystalline-like shape of the Michael Lee-Chin Crystal rises up to fill much of the image field, adding a modern element to the design. Its angled, prismatic structures are rendered in beautiful detail – from the aluminum strips giving the building its brushed metal appearance, to the many windows that capture and reflect light. The museum’s centennial is commemorated above the building with the words “100 YEARS ANS,” while below are engraved the face value of “20 DOLLARS” and the word “CANADA.”

Over the last few years, one of the Monnaie De Paris signature coins, the Sower, has been celebrating the 10th anniversary of the introduction of the Euro.
Starting in 2014, the Sower series offers a new concept: Seven years depicting the most historically significant coins of France’s history. As a start, Monnaie de Paris pays tribute to its first years: The Edict of Pîtres, signed by Charles the Bald in 864, establishing the ten official minting workshops; hence the representation of the denier struck by the parisian’s workshop at this date. That makes it the 1150th anniversary of Monnaie de Paris, a staggering achievement and one that makes it the oldest institution in the world.
It’s a beautiful coin and something the Paris mint does exceptionally well. They’re also responsible for one of the finest modern precious metal coin series available today, ‘From Clovis to Republic’, a series of 15 coins released over 5 years celebrating the currency and leaders of France.
There are four versions of the coin available, three gold and a silver. The gold coins are of 0.920 quality and the silver 0.900, both quite typical of Euro coins.
The Sower on the obverse is the same as that on previous issues of the coin with only the date changing, and features an image of the Sower by Roty, along with twelve stars standing for the twelve founding countries of the Eurozone.
The reverse depicts in the background, a facsimilé of the Edict of Pîtres, over which are depicted the obverse and the reverse of the first Denier struck in Paris (‘PARISII’ mentionned on the edge of the coin) bearing Charles the Bald’s number, Charles the Great’s grandson. The royal seal with the king’s profile in latin imperator and the latin motto « GLORIA SIT XPO REGI VICTORIA CARLO » (« May the Glory be with the Christ and the Victory with King Charles ») seals all these elements.

Wild boar or wild pig (Sus scrofa) is a species of the pig genus Sus, part of the biological family Suidae. The species includes many subspecies. It is the wild ancestor of the domestic pig, an animal with which it freely hybridises. Wild boar are native across much of Northern and Central Europe, the Mediterranean region (including North Africa's Atlas Mountains) and much of Asia, including Japan and as far south as Indonesia. Populations have also been artificially introduced in some parts of the world, most notably the Americas and Australasia, where they are regarded as both an important food resource and an environmental threat. Elsewhere, such as England, populations have also become established after escapes of wild boar from captivity.

The Mint of Poland is delighted to present the coin of the enchanting “Man’s Best Friends” collection designed for all cats’ enthusiasts in whose hearts and minds these pets hold a special place.
The British Shorthair is the largest of all short-haired cats. They are perfect domestic cats recognized by their incredible intelligence and gentle character. This breed descends from the cats brought to the British Isles by the Roman legions. The cats were to be used to provide protection against pests consuming legionnaires’ food supplies. After World War II, the existence of the breed was threatened. Therefore, in the 1950s, breeders decided to cross the British Shorthair with the Blue Persian Cat reinforcing the population and improving the features of the breed.
This stunning coin with a multi-coloured image of the British Shorthair cat set with crystals will be a gift which cannot be forgotten. The dazzling beauty and magical aura of the British Shorthair cat makes this coin an item that will add splendour to each collection.
In the central part of the obverse – a profile portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Below – inscriptions: Ag 999 (the hallmark), m/w (the mint mark). Along the rim – inscriptions: ELIZABETH II, NIUE ISLAND (the issuer), 1 DOLLAR (the face value) and the year of issue: 2014.

According to a BBC article dated 3 April 2014, Argentina "launched" (it's unclear if it was merely unveiled or actually introduced into circulation) a new 50-peso note commemorating the 32nd anniversary of the invasion of the archipelago known as the Falklands to Britian and the Islas Malvinas to Argentina.
President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner said the Falklands were "Nato's military base" in the region.
British troops regained control of the archipelago after a 74-day war in which more than 900 people died.
Argentina claims sovereignty of the islands it calls Las Malvinas. The new note is worth just under $7 (£4). On one side, it displays a map of the islands in the white and blue colours of the Argentine flag.
"We live in a changing world. I have endless confidence that we will recover these islands," Ms Fernandez said during a ceremony at the Casa Rosada presidential palace. "The colonial enclaves always end up being recovered, sooner or later," she added.
'Clearest possible result'
Ms Fernandez said that Britain had installed long-range missiles on the island, which represented a potential threat to South America. "The British government does not reveal what the military budget is for the Falklands. That is a pity in a country where 20% of the young people are unemployed. It would be good if England was less dedicated to war and more to its own people," said Ms Fernandez.
She also renewed calls for Britain to join negotiations on the future of the Falklands. But UK Prime Minister David Cameron has said that there would be "no negotiation" over the islands' sovereignty.
In March 2013, residents in the Falkland Islands voted overwhelmingly in a referendum in favour of remaining British. Just three residents out of 1,517 were against remaining British. Mr Cameron said the vote in favour of staying a British overseas territory was the "clearest possible result".
Argentine forces invaded the Falkland Islands on 2 April 1982 but surrendered after just over two months of fighting. A total 255 British and about 650 Argentine servicemen were killed in the fighting, along with three Falkland civilians.
