The Baroque is the term used to describe a cultural movement that began in Rome, Italy, made from literature, philosophy, art and baroque music characteristics of the seventeenth century and the first decades of the eighteenth century. By extension, it is indicated as "baroque" the taste linked to artistic events of this period, most notably those related to the inventiveness and imagination.

On the reverse: The elephant by the famous Baroque sculptor Gian Lorenzo Bernini, located in Piazza della Minerva, Rome; in turn, from left to right, "fauna nell'arte" (fauna in the art); in right 2014 and left R; below, 50/euro; outside the circle of beads.
