On December, 2013, the The Perth Mint (Australia) issued a new silver coin "Jolly Roger" in the Famous Ships That Never Sailed coin series.
In James Barrie’s classic tale Peter Pan, the Jolly Roger is home and passage to Captain Hook and his pirate crew on the fantasy isle of Neverland. Yet in a series of magical adventures, Pan and his band of companions outsmart Hook to commandeer the vessel.The Jolly Roger is the fourth vessel to feature in the Famous Ships That Never Sailed coin series.
Each coin is struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality.
The coin’s reverse portrays a representation of the Jolly Roger anchored at Mermaids’ Lagoon, with Peter Pan flying by the tall ship. The inscriptions ‘Peter Pan’ and ‘The Jolly Roger’ also feature as part of the design.
The Famous Ships That Never Sailed – The Jolly Roger 2014 1oz Silver Proof Coin is issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu and features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the 2014 year-date on the obverse.
The coin is presented in a wooden case moulded in the shape of a book and accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
