New gold and silver proof coins issued under the Perth Mint’s Treasures of the World series celebrate Australia’s abundance of gold. A pocket of at least 0.2 grams of gold is encased in a transparent locket integrated into each coin.
The locket in each coin is surrounded by a reverse design of Australian outback scene, featuring a kangaroo, grass, trees, and spinifex plants. The design incorporates The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark and the inscription "TREASURES OF THE WORLD" and "GOLD".
Issued as Australian legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2014 year-date and the monetary denomination, are shown on the coin’s obverse.
