Romanian Mint issued a commemorative coin for the 100th anniversary of the birth of Eugene Draguteshku, the Romanian artist, painter and illustrator.

Eugene Drăguţescu (May 19, 1914, Iaşi - 1993, Rome) Romanian artist, painter and illustrator. Like many personalities who left the country and settled in other countries, Eugene Drăguţescu has long excluded from the literature published in Romania.

He was born in Iasi, studied from 1932 to 1938 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bucharest. Another student created two famous works: Slums and blind boy. The artist was also a good designer

  In 1936 he took his first solo exhibition in the Open Gallery Mozart.

  In 1939 Eugene won the Prix de Rome, which allowed him to study in Italy at the Academy of Romania. Meanwhile Draguteshku still participate in various art events in the country; Working for several years in the Netherlands (1946-1949), then returned to Italy, lives in Assisi, 1959, in Rome. During the life of the artist was held many solo exhibitions in Italy, the Netherlands, Mexico, the US and Switzerland.

Eugene Drăguţescu author a large number of drawings illustrating the works of the classics, as well as some special edition encyclopedia Dantesca.
