The Perth Mint will release no more than 1,500 of the 2014 Gods of Olympus – Zeus 2oz Silver High Relief Coin. The coin is issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu.
In ancient Greek mythology, Zeus was worshipped as the supreme ruler of Mount Olympus and the Pantheon of gods that lived there. He was the god of the sky and weather, law and justice, morals and fate, and the spiritual leader of both gods and men.
The coin’s reverse depicts a bearded Zeus rising up into the stormy sky wielding his thunderbolt and sceptre with an eagle flying above his shoulder. The design includes the inscription ZEUS and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark. To capture the depth and detail of the design, each coin is meticulously struck in high relief to a rimless format and features an antique finish. Designer: Tom Vaughan.
Issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu, the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2014 year-date and the monetary denomination are shown on the coin’s obverse.

An explosion of emotions – that’s First Love. Emotions one never forgets. Experience them again! What happens in our bodies when our hormones go haywire? These feelings primarily occur in the head. It has been found that when in love, the same regions of the brain are effected as with addicts. The idea that love is a drug of sorts, is therefore not entirely wrong, but fortunately the consequences in most cases are less damaging.
Certainly everyone has heard the term «to have butterflies in one’s tummy» before. That is because our stomach reacts most sensitively to the messages which lover’s brains send. This hormone cocktail directly affects our eating habits; therefore, lovers often lose their appetite.
Nowadays, scientists can interpret many reactions in different body parts of lovers. It is however best not to think too much and just enjoy First Love.

With a history going back a staggering 1150 years since its formation, the Monnaie De Paris has been minting coins longer than anybody, so it goes without saying that there’s a rich history to draw from when deciding what to strike on your next coin. This time they haven’t gone back too far, choosing to showcase the Gallic Rooster, an ancient symbol of Gaul that has its origins in the days of the Roman occupation because the Latin for rooster and for the Gallic people then was Gallus.
The original was minted between 1899 and 1914, struck in 0.900 gold and carried on it’s obverse the portrait of Marianne, a personification of Republican France. On the reverse was the rooster with the famous French phrase, “LIBERTE EGALITE FRATERNITE” (Liberty, equality, fraternity) surrounding it. These coins are still readily available as they were minted in large numbers.
Following the introduction of the Sower and Hercules, the Monnaie de Paris honours this year another major French numismatic symbol: the Rooster. Like the former symbols, it is represented using modern numismatics codes.
On the obverse, a rooster’s bust with its cockscomb and feathers represented in a contemporary style with a rich textural surface. It carries the French motto « Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité». In the background, the French flag is depicted in heraldic colours like on the 10, 20 and 50 euro cents coins: horizontal stripes for blue, no stripes for white and vertical stripes for red.
The reverse shows the face value surrounded by two branches (oak and laurel) that evoke the Euro symbol. The entire reverse motive is framed in a hexagonal design representing the shape of France. The coins artist was Joaquin Jimenez.

On October 3, 1914, the largest single movement of Canadians during the First World War — the largest convoy ever to cross the Atlantic to that point—set sail. Canada's response to Britain's declaration of war had been swift and enthusiastic, with recruits quickly swelling the nation's standing army of 3,110 to more than 30,000.
Tens of thousands of fathers, sons, husbands and brothers made their way up roped gangways to steel ships that would take them, along with 7,000 horses and critical munitions and supplies, to England. Trains also played an essential role in Canada's mobilisation as they brought soldiers across the continent to the new training camp in Valcartier near the city of Québec, or delivered them to the Port of Halifax, where they would head out to sea. Over the course of the war, more than 650,000 men made that voyage. Sadly, more than 66,000 never returned home.
Сoin was designed by Canadian artist Maskull Lasserre, and features a rear view of a Canadian soldier as he embarks on a ship bound for England. The chill of the October air does little to slow our soldier's confident pace, as he makes his way up the roped gangway and onto the steel ship with his equipment and rifle. Many more would board these ships, which would transport the First Canadian Contingent to Plymouth in October 1914.

This amazing 2 oz silver coin "Galileo Galieli" is honoring this great man who changed the world. Galileo Galieli was an Italian physicist, mathematician, astronomer and philosopher. Symbolizing his discovery of lunar mountains and craters on the moon's surface there is applied a natural moonstone in the coin.
The world this year marks the 450th anniversary of the birth of Galileo Galilei, who died on January 8th, 1642. The famous Italian scientist was tried by the Holy Office of the Catholic Church for his defense of a heliocentric universe. The case has often been used to demonstrate a supposed conflict between science and religion.
Born on February 15, 1564, in Pisa, Italy, Galileo Galilei was a mathematics professor who made pioneering observations of nature with long-lasting implications for the study of physics. He also constructed a telescope and supported the Copernican theory, which supports a sun-centered solar system. Galileo was accused twice of heresy by the church for his beliefs, and wrote books on his ideas. He died in Arcetri, Italy, on January 8, 1642.
Cook Islands have issued this commemorative coin made of 2 oz of pure silver.
The reverse has a portrait of Galileo looking into a sky featuring the moon, some stars, and the then known solar system. The coin has the moon replaced with a piece of moonstone.
The obverse carries the denomination, weight, date, issuing country and the name and portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, the latter by Ian Rank Broadley. The coin is housed in a moon shape box.

Laser technology has become an indispensable tool in numerous branches of industry and is ideally suited to create intricate detail and matt finish on metal surfaces. We strikingly demonstrate the possibilities of laser surface refinement on our newest release – the Shades of Nature Honey Bee.
Bees are pure herbivores and sustain themselves almost exclusively on sweet nectar. They collect albuminous pollen as nourishment for their larvae. Some species even set aside food reserves so that the whole bee colony is able to survive during food shortage periods.
Only the female bee has a venomous sting which is also called its defence thorn. During the course of evolution this tool developed from the egg laying organ. The sting is used to lay eggs, as well as for defence purposes. The bee’s ecological importance is immense since it not only produces tons of honey, but is also the most important pollinator worldwide. Therefore, the continuing depletion of the bee population could have serious consequences for mankind. Not only biodiversity but also our successful harvest is therefore endangered. According to calculations, the reduction in bee numbers could lead to annual financial losses of billions of Euros.
