Celebrating the birth and lifelong achievements of Andrew Barton “Banjo” Paterson CBE (1864–1941), The Perth Mint and Australia Post are proud to present this stunning uncirculated coin in card.
The coin’s reverse portrays a photographic portrait of Banjo Paterson fringed by Banksia flowers. His signature and the inscription A.B. “BANJO” PATERSON 1864–1941 also feature in the design with The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.
Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the coin’s obverse depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the 2014 year-date.
Affixed to the envelope is an official Australia Post 70c stamp depicting an image from Clancy of the Overflow and Banjo Paterson looking thoughtfully as he writes. The stamp is postmarked for the first day of issue.
The coin is presented in a beautifully designed card that fits inside a similarly illustrated envelope with a circular window revealing the coin’s reverse and obverse designs. The envelope includes Australia Post’s Seal of Authenticity and official release number.
