The Mint of Poland is proud to present the »Year of the Horse" coin from the series, dedicated to the Chinese signs of the zodiac.
The »Chinese Calendar» is a series of commemorative coins. Each year the Mint of Poland issues a coin showing one of the 12 symbols of the Chinese Zodiac that is assigned to the following year: Pig, Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Dog, Monkey and Rooster.
This fruit of passion of the best minters that has been struck with the usage of the most innovative technologies seems to be a magnificent masterpiece that will enchant even the most demanding coin collectors. Obverse: In the central part of the coin – a profile portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Below, on the right – the mint mark (m/w) and the hallmark (Ag 925). Along the rim – inscriptions: ELIZABETH II, NIUE ISLAND (the issuer), 2014 (the year of issue), 1 DOLLAR (the face value).
Reverse: In the central part of the coin – a 24-carat gold plated horseshoe. On the left and on the right – multi-colour, artistic images of two horses embellished with pad printing. Above – an inscription: "YEAR OF THE HORSE" in Chinese. Along the rim – an inscription: YEAR OF THE HORSE (the name of the coin in English).
