The Isle of Man is well known for its wonderful coinage and one of the great Christmas traditions is collecting the new Christmas coin to celebrate this wonderful time of the year. 2014 is no exception, and to celebrate the delightful story of 'The Snowman™ and The Snowdog', Pobjoy Mint are delighted to announce the release of not only the new Christmas 50 Pence coin but also a Christmas Crown, both wonderful collector’s coins. 

The new Crown features The Snowman™, The Snowdog and Billy flying high above the rooftops. This coin is available in Cupro Nickel and Proof Sterling Silver and they are also available as coloured versions – really bringing the story to life.

The 50 Pence coins also shows the three main characters as if posing for a photograph with Christmas trees in the background. Available in Cupro Nickel Diamond Finish, Proof Sterling Silver and Proof 22ct Gold, the Cupro Nickel Diamond Finish and Silver versions are also available in colour and can also be ordered in a beautiful Christmas card showing a scene from the story.

'The Snowman™ and The Snowdog' beautifully captures the magic and excitement of the original film as well as being a heart-warming story about love, loss and friendship. When a young boy, Billy, moves house, he discovers a secret box hidden under the floorboards. In it are a hat, scarf, some lumps of coal and a shrivelled tangerine – a snowman-making kit! Later that day it snows and Billy builds a Snowman and, with a little spare snow, a Snowdog. That night, at the stroke of midnight, The Snowman and The Snowdog magically come to life. The boy awakes and joins them on an amazing adventure. 

Each coin is detailed to perfection and struck to the highest quality with the precious metal versions being produced in the stunning Pobjoy proof finish. Approved by Buckingham Palace, the obverse of each coin bears a fine effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Lord of Man, by Ian Rank-Broadley FRBS.
