The Scarlet Flower. Obverse a relief image of the National Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation and a semicircular inscription above it along the rim ‘РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ’ (RUSSIAN FEDERATION) framed with paired diamonds on both sides, under the coat of arms in the centre, in three lines, are an inscription ‘БАНК РОССИИ’ (BANK OF RUSSIA), the coin denomination ‘25 РУБЛЕЙ’ (25 RUBLES) and the year of issue ‘2023 г.’ (2023), and on the right is the mint trademark. Reverse a relief coloured scene from the animated film ‘The Scarlet Flower’ and the relief inscription at the top ‘АЛЕНЬКИЙ ЦВЕТОЧЕК’ (THE SCARLET FLOWER) on the left around the circumference. Discover more The Scarlet Flower is a Soviet full-length animated film directed by Lev Atamanov and based on Sergey Aksakov’s fairy tale about a young man turned into a beast and a young woman who, through her love towards him, transforms him back into a human. The fairy tale was first printed in 1858 as an appendix to the family chronicle ‘Childhood Years of Bagrov–Grandson’. The first animated film based on this fairy tale was released nearly a century later – in 1952. The images of the heroes were created by artist Leonid Shvartsman.
