Johannes Paulus Kruger (1825-1904), a prominent Boer leader against British rule and president of the Zuid-Afrikaansche Republic (1883 to 1902) later became the Transvaal Colony of the English and then the Transvaal Province of the Union of South Africa.
Hern#Z2 Rare 1893 issue Most were minted in 1893 with the 1892 dies, making the 1893 penny the rarest variety. No numbers exist for the exact number of pennies minted with 1893 dies.
